The History Place
The Carteret County Historical Society, Inc., DBA the History Place, is located in the heart of downtown Morehead City, and houses the Carteret County Museum, the Jack Spencer Goodwin Research Library, Museum Store, the Les A. Ewen Auditorium/Learning Center, the “Red Room" (conference room), offices and a tea room. The historical society was created in 1971 with the primary mission to preserve the history of Carteret County. The History Place has artifacts dating to the early 1800's and offers programs and special events throughout the year. Admission is free.
