No vacation would be complete without tasting some of the delicious local cuisine. The 2017 Beaufort Wine and Food Festival is the perfect way to sample the best dishes Emerald Isle has to offer. The festival runs from Wednesday, April 26 to Sunday, April 30, in historic Beaufort and includes everything from wine pairings to live music and silent auctions.
Wednesday and Thursday, April 26 and 27
Festivities kick off with wine-paired dinners prepared in private homes by visiting chefs. The dinners, featuring four to six courses, start at 6 p.m. and are guided by local winemakers.
Friday, April 28
The festival hits full steam on Friday with several events that will satisfy your inner foodie or fashionista.
At 12:00 p.m., a multi-course luncheon will be served up by a renowned guest chef and local winemaker. The luncheon will also feature a local fashion show featuring various items for sale by area boutiques and retailers. A silent auction will also be going on during the luncheon.
At 3:00 p.m., head to the North Carolina Maritime Museum Watercraft Center for a crowd-favorite wine, bread and cheese seminar. Here, you’ll learn about a variety of pairings presented by a local winemaker, a cheese monger and a bread maker.
Friday events come to a close at 6:30 p.m. with a Grand Reserve Tasting and Auction. Here you’ll have the chance to indulge in world-class recipes and wines prepared specially for this event. Celebrity guest chefs will be mingling with guests during the event, which will also have music and philanthropic opportunities. The live auction at the event will feature large format and fine wines, travel excursions and other unique luxury items.
Saturday, April 29
Featuring more than 300 different wine labels, Saturday’s events get started from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with dozens of area restaurants gathering for demonstrations and samplings at the Vin de Mer Culinary Village.
From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. breakout your walking shoes and prepare to take golf cart rides throughout Beaufort for the Historic District Wine Walkabout. During this event, attendees will visit four different chefs at some of Beaufort’s most beautiful historic homes to sample freshly prepared dishes. Groups will meet at Beaufort Grocery Annex, 115 Queen Street, to be broken into four groups of 30.
The day ends at the Saturday Night Roundup, which begins at 7:30 p.m. where guests can sample beer, wine and specialty spirits from area restaurants paired with local food. Breakout country band Farewell Angelina will be providing entertainment the event.
Sunday, April 30
The festival comes to an end with one last guest-favorite event at the Champagne Celebration Brunch at noon. Here, a multi-course brunch will be served with paired champagnes and sparkling wines.
