34th Annual Wooden Boat Show
Event Dates: May. 3, 2008
Location:Downtown Beaufort

Enjoy activities and exhibits on display at the NC Maritime Museum, the museum's Watercraft Center and at the museum's expansion site at Gallants Channel, with free parking available.

Outer Banks Ferry Service will provide free ferry rides between the museum's expansion site and downtown Beaufort from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

A variety of small wooden boats will be on display on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include live music by "Molasses Creek" and the "2d Marine Aircraft Wing Show Band", the Atlantic Veneer Beaufort National BoatBuilding Challenge, a nautical crafts fair, maritime skills demonstrations, Civil WarNaval Re-enactors, a ship model exhibition, children's model building classes, an antique car show, coast guard vessels, opportunities to go sailing, and much more.

Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp Registration
Event Dates: May. 5, 2008
Location:Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Department

Summer Day Camp registration takes place on Monday, May 7th beginning at 8am and stays open until all spaces are full. Children do not need to be members of Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation to participant. All sessions are one week in length for a total of 8 weeks of summer day camp; beginning the week of June 18th and ending the week of August 6th. The fee for each one week session is $75 per child with additional per diem fees for field trips, etc. A discounted rate is available for families with 3 or more children enrolled in the same session. Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp Program mission is to provide both entertaining and educating activities for children age 6-12, where activities are facilitated in a safe, fun environment by means that are structured and well supervised. Activities will provide enrichment for the children and the community.

    Morehead City Family Boating & In-Water Boat Show
    Event Dates: May. 16-18, 2008
    Location:Morehead City

    The Boating weekend begins on May 16 at 7:00 pm with a grand opening Gala Celebration of Morehead City's new docks for visiting boaters. The Family Boating and In-Water Boat show begins Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 to 5:00 pm and goes through Sunday, May 18 from 11:00 to 4:00 pm. Visit boating exhibits including the Coast Guard

    Auxiliary's Boating Safety exhibits and programs which will begin Boating Safety Week. Try out Volvo Penta's new interactive intelligent Propulsion System (IPS) at the electronics booth. Tour in-water and on shore power boats. Enjoy band concerts including the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing's Rock and Roll band, always a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Local restaurants will also have food booths.

    WATERCRAFT CENTER
    The Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center, located across from the NC Maritime Museum building, is open for viewing wooden boat construction and restoration, and ship model building.

    Boatbuilding Skills Classes are designed for both novices and experienced woodworkers. Boatbuilding Carpentry is a prerequisite for the Boatbuilding classes. Build a Boat in a Day is for an adult/child team working from a pre-cut kit. Contact the museum for details or view the website.
