How did Caribsea get its name?

In March 1942, off the shores of Cape Lookout, a cargo freighter and her crew, sailing from Santiago, Cuba to Norfolk, VA on the SS Caribsea, met their fate in the coastal stretch of waters known as ‘Torpedo Alley.’ The Caribsea restaurant in Emerald Isle, NC narrates this spectacular tale through its amazing coastal cuisine.
