Celebrate the 4th of July near Emerald Isle with a full day of events in Morehead City, NC. Family-friendly activities include a golf cart parade, a giant picnic celebrating 250 years of our country’s independence, and a spectacular fireworks display over Downtown Morehead City Waterfront.

2026 Event Schedule

Golf Cart Parade – 11:00 am

Kick off your Independence Day at the Golf Cart Parade along the Morehead City Waterfront. Festively decorated golf carts in red, white, and blue roll from the 9th Street Parking Lot to 4th Street, then west on Evans Street to 10th Street. Want to participate? Register your golf cart here.

America250 Giant Picnic Event – 6:00 pm | Katherine Davis Park

Join your neighbors for the America250 Common Ground Giant Picnic at Katherine Davis Park (601 Arendell St), celebrating 250 years of American independence. Bring your own food or grab a bite from food trucks on site: The Frosty Flounder, Beach Weenies, and JR’s Backyard BBQ Bash. Morehead City provides the giant picnic blanket. Family-friendly games and activities included.

Fireworks Display – 9:00 pm | Downtown Morehead City Waterfront

Cap the night with a dazzling fireworks show over the Downtown Morehead City Waterfront. Arrive early to claim your spot and find the best parking (near 9th Street and 4th Street lots)
