Tour a Sturgeon Farm and Taste Osetra Caviar in Smyrna, NC
Marshallberg Farm raises sturgeon in an indoor recirculating aquaculture system (R.A.S.) at its farm in Smyrna, located on Core Sound near the Atlantic Ocean, about 12 miles east of Beaufort and Morehead City in North Carolina.
On scheduled dates, the farm opens for ticketed tours: you walk through the sturgeon facility, then taste Osetra caviar with champagne and Social House Vodka. Seafood Watch rates R.A.S. sturgeon farming a “Best Choice” for sustainability.

There are no tours in December or January. New dates are added throughout the year, and the farm announces them through its newsletter.
What the Tour Includes
A guided tour of the indoor R.A.S. sturgeon farm
A buffet-style caviar tasting with champagne and Social House Vodka
A chance to talk with the staff and buy Marshallberg Farm products on site
The visit lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Tickets:
Tickets are $75 and must be bought online before the tour. They’re digital, so there’s nothing to print; you sign in on the roster when you arrive. Tickets are refundable for 24 hours after purchase. After that, you can exchange them for another date that has space. Up to two children who won’t be tasting caviar don’t need tickets.
Tours run only on the scheduled dates. The farm doesn’t offer private, school group, or club tours.
Before You Go
What to Wear: Shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. You’ll walk between buildings on dirt and possibly damp ground.
What to Bring: A cooler with ice or ice packs if you plan to buy caviar or other products.
Special Needs: If you’re bringing elderly guests or children, or have accessibility needs, contact the farm ahead of time, and they’ll try to accommodate you.
Location: Tours are held only at the Smyrna farm. There are no tours at the farm’s Lenoir, NC, facility.
